Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to an inclusive learning experience for everyone

iTutorOnline is committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to people with diverse abilities and needs. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards.

Accessibility Features

Keyboard Navigation

Every interactive element on iTutorOnline is fully navigable using a keyboard alone. Tab through menus, forms, and controls without a mouse.

Screen Reader Support

Semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and proper heading hierarchy ensure screen readers can convey the full experience to visually impaired users.

Visual Clarity

Primary text meets WCAG 2.1 AAA contrast standards. We use clear typography, generous spacing, and distinct interactive states throughout the platform.

Responsive Design

iTutorOnline works across devices and screen sizes. Whether on desktop, tablet, or mobile, the interface adapts to your needs.

Reduced Motion

Animations and transitions respect your system preferences. If you have reduced motion enabled, animations are minimised or disabled entirely.

High Contrast Support

Enhanced borders and visual indicators activate automatically when your operating system is set to high contrast mode.

Multilingual Interface

The platform is available in English, Dutch, and French. Language selection is accessible from any page via the navigation menu.

Focus Indicators

All interactive elements display clear, branded focus rings when navigated with a keyboard, ensuring you always know where you are on the page.

Standards We Follow

WCAG 2.1 Level AA

We target compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA, covering perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust criteria.

European Accessibility Act

As an EU-based platform, we are aligned with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) requirements for digital services, effective June 2025.

Semantic HTML

Our pages use proper HTML5 semantics including landmarks, headings, lists, and form labels to ensure assistive technologies can parse the content accurately.

Known Limitations

While we continuously work to improve accessibility, some areas are still being enhanced:

  • The interactive whiteboard relies on pointer-based interaction; keyboard-only alternatives for drawing are in development.
  • Some third-party components (e.g., Stripe payment forms) have their own accessibility implementations which we cannot directly control.
  • Older PDF documents uploaded by tutors may not include text alternatives for images.
