Key findings

  • €25/hour is the going rate. Across all subjects the median total price students pay is €25, and half of all listings sit between €20 and €32 per hour, fees included.
  • Specialist subjects cost more. Algebra, Calculus, Statistics and Programming carry a median of €30/hour, a premium over the €25 baseline across all subjects.
  • The biggest subjects are the most competitive. Mathematics (443 listings) and English (353) have the widest supply and the lowest entry pricing, at €20 and €18 respectively, which gives families more budget options.
  • Rates vary by country. Tutors in United Kingdom, Belgium and Spain post the highest medians at €30/hour. Online delivery means families can hire across borders at the best price.

Methodology & reuse

Rates are derived from active, publicly listed tutor advertisements on iTutorOnline as of August 2026. Each advertisement is tagged with one or more subjects and contributes to every subject it is tagged with, counted once per subject. We report the median and interquartile range rather than the mean, so a small number of premium listings does not distort the typical figure. Listings below €1 or above €200/hour were excluded as outliers. Reported figures are the total price paid by students: the tutor's advertised rate plus our flat €5/hour service fee, so they reflect real out-the-door cost rather than the pre-fee listing rate.
