The 2026 session is finished. Bac results came out on 7 July and the brevet results followed a few days later, so this page now looks ahead to June 2027, and the ministry has already set the days. When Is the Brevet Exam in France?
The brevet (DNB) written papers are held at the very end of the school year, just after the baccalauréat's main written exams, so the two calendars sit back to back. In 2027 the four papers are spread over three days:

The French paper is sat in two parts with a short break in between, so the 9:00 start is not one unbroken sitting. Monday is the long day either year: two papers, one on each side of lunch.
Last year's column is there for a reason. The order of the papers and the times of day do not move, only the dates do, so if you are working from a 2026 past paper or a revision plan built around last year, the shape of the week is still the one you are preparing for.

How Far in Advance Should You Prepare for the Brevet or Bac?
Both exams reward work spread across the year, because continuous assessment counts towards the final result in each of them. For the brevet, though, the balance has just tipped towards the June papers. Since the 2026 session, the brevet is marked like this:
- Final exams: 60% of the result (they used to be half)
- Continuous assessment: 40%, from your average across every subject in troisième
- The old 800-point system is gone. Everything is now out of 20, and you need 10/20 to pass
Within the papers themselves the coefficients are not equal either. French, maths, science and the oral each count double; history-geography counts 1.5 and EMC 0.5. The oral is easy to underestimate on that list, because it carries the same weight as the maths paper. So a strong year of coursework no longer carries a weak exam week quite as far as it did.

Whatever the subject, the most effective tool is past papers (annales), because both exams reuse familiar formats and question styles from year to year.
